slowing my roll

Wrapping soap

I spilled a 60ml beaker of peppermint oil on the kitchen counter tonight.

I was rushing. Rushing to make a batch of soap.

That latter sentence is an oxymoron. The idea of handmade soap is to take one’s time.

To enjoy the chemistry, the magic.

But time is running short. I have bars to wrap and labels to make. I’m writing the labels by hand, or at least one for each type of soap.

Then I’ll scan them and duplicate them into A4 one sheet in Photoshop.

And hopefully find a printer next week who can copy them. It’ll be a rush job, but a slow rush job. The deadline to deliver this order is fast approaching.

And I’ve run out of paper to wrap the cinnamon soap bars.

But all of this will have to wait.

There’s laundry to finish tonight (the nice old lady on the top floor has asked for my wash day tomorrow, but I usually do my laundry on the Sunday before my wash day anyway so it will have time to dry all day on Monday – my normal wash day. Very non-Swiss, I know. I’m a rebel.)

Then I’ll shower and sink into nice clean white sheets.
